On a trip from Seattle, WA to Boulder, CO, I saw a truck dumping rocks into a parking strip. I was drawn to the rock pile and noticed several small black rocks that seemed to be coated with asphalt, or so I thought. Even though the rocks were not "pretty," I picked them up. I showed them to a friend and she said, "those are tektites, Angie, interesting that you picked them out". I had never heard the term before. I put the tektites into a dish of rocks that I collected and forgot about them. Recently, I looked up tektites on line and the rocks I found match the pictures. Now, I wonder where they came from. Does it matter?
Being a poet, I'll close with a poem:
Stars : All of us
so close but far
Children of a distant star
Connected by a silver thread
Woven in a golden web
Each of us
A spark of light
Each of us
Alone at night.
