I just bought a telescope last weekend...at a garage sale. It is a Celestron Nexstar 4 GT, a 4 inch Maksutov-Cassegrain style telescope. I have never looked through a telescope in my entire life until a few days ago. When I look at stars or Jupiter, I get alot of glare coming off of the objects. This is especially true when looking at Jupiter. The glare is always "pushing" off to the left side as I see it. It is to the point that I am having some trouble seeing anything clearly. Do I need filters, is this normal? Does my telescope have a problem? I have tried out a couple of different eyepieces, same result. I have cleaned what glass I could access, same result. I have looked at images during the daytime, they seem fine. Please help. Thanks.

WOW! You bought this at a garage sale !! !
You may have a calibration problem.
Did it come with an instruction manual?
You may want to contact your local astronomy club and have one of the "vintage members" take a look at it for you.
Happy observing.
