Tomorrow the newly arrived astronauts will inspect what looks like a three inch square gouge found near the starboard gear door, using the laser tipped robotic arm and extension beam.
This gouge may have been caused by the three pieces of debris which struck the shuttle (either falling foam insulation or ice from the fuel tanks) on lift off. Reparation of the gouge can be performed by the crew during scheduled spacewalks.
