A question about moving objects in the night sky??

I'm a little confused!?

I was sitting outside last night when I noticed a star,or at least i thought it was a star, but then I noticed it moving across the sky, now i've seen shooting stars before, but this one was moving to slow, or at least I think so, and then it started to fade like it was getting farther away and then disappeared completly. Can anyone shed some light on what this might have been?!

I heard that sometimes we can see the space station moving across the night sky, and that it looks like a moving star, but how fast wold it really move?

viewing the ISS

It sounds you saw like the International Space Station or the Space Shuttle Atlantis. For precise times on when these are visible from your location check out this website: Heavens Above
Hopefully this will help to solve the mystery!

ISS and/or satellites

Could be either ISS or Satellites.
Marc's website suggestion is a good start to find what was in your area
at the particular time the object was sighted.
