A question about earth...

Hi,
I am in my last year of school. I've keen interest in astronomy. There are many questions come in my mind and I try my best to find their answers. I think it is the right place where I can get answers to my questions. Thats why I've joined this forum. I hope you people will help me.
Now the question is, what will happen if the earth suddenly stop revolving around the sun?
Waiting for your reply
Thanks and regards
Uzair

Greetings and welcome to our Astronomy Today Forum.
More about your hypothetical question..
( and we indeed hope this doesn't happen for a loooooooooooooong time... or ever... )
Is your question about the earth suddenly standing still and stop revolving or did "something" happen that we got ejected from the solar system?
In either case, I don't think it would be a very positive outcome for us.

No body or object in space can exist without interacting with the bodies or objects around us. So the Earth could not just stay still at a set distance from the Sun. In the broader sense the Sun (and solar system as a whole) isn't stationary either. It rotates about the centre of the Milky Way.
Despite the impossibility of what you describe it's worth noting that the Earth's revolution about the Sun is responsible for the seasons as we know them. The spinning of the Earth on its own axis is responsible for day and night.
