worm holes=time travel??

ive heard many theorys about wormholes being used as time travel. is this a future possibility? when was evidence of this theory found?

The theory of time travel via wormhole is just that, a theory. There is no evidence to back this theory up. Even if we tested it, there would be no way of getting the results, whether it worked or not.

Hey there, first of all, I'm new to this site, seems pretty cool!Smile

As for your question, I happened to read some works of Stephen Hawking on the topic. According to him, time travel through wormholes is not possible for technical reasons, as getting through one alive seems fairly impossible. These holes are quite small, even approaching them would tear our bodies apart, into "spaghetti", as he put it.Smile
Theoretically speaking they could lead to other regions in time space, but you can't get through one.
That's all I know about this.Plus, I remember one of his sayings:Time travel is impossible. If it were possible, we would already have time travellers around from the future.
Sounds pretty sensible huh??:)Well, you never know...Smile

I doubt time travel. Time itself may be an illusion.

Sometimes a fatalist,
Oftentimes a Optimist

...and forever a Realist

bob loblah believes that we will Never be able to time travel.

But......

if we could make a shaft that reached 187,000 miles out into space
and..
if we could apply enough torque on the one end here and twist

....then we would be moving the far end faster than the
speed of light. Yes !!!

Now suppose we had a way of sending outselves down the shaft
at the same time as the ' twist ' is applied. Then we would
be travelling slightly faster than 180,000 miles per second ( the speed
of light. ) In other words, we would be at the other end and would
have experienced ' something ' before light arrived at the other end.

Sumding like dat

While the theory of wormholes as we know them has been proven by transporting an atom across a distance of 3 feet the problem with them is the fact that as soon as they are exposed to gravity inside of them they will shut. Since all atoms contain gravity in a small portion we would have to find a way to make in a scence an anti gravity shield. Even if we could stabilize one. Theres no way to keep the structural integrity of the item we send through due to the fact that particles dont react the same way if they arnt affected by gravity

"While the theory of wormholes as we know them has been proven by transporting an atom across a distance of 3 feet..."

Can you offer some documentation for this statement?
