I saw the Metorite on 3/12/07 land in Michigan. It crossed over in front of my car at dusk on Sunday night about 8:00 pm. It landed in a farmers field. It was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I called my brother who is just getting into Astronomy and He couldn't tell me much and I also heard it on the news!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a sight! Hi Karen:
Pretty darn cool, I say .
There is a committee that records all this. My friend Hal Povenmire has something to do with it. I'll find out and let you know. I think he's out at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Clear Lake right now, either that or hunting for tektites around the Texas Hill Country...
Meanwhile, write down everything you remember, including any colors and odors.
A few years ago, a huge one went over my place in Columbus while I was out on the porch. The smell of sulphur lasted for quite some time and the contrail was still visible in the still summer Texas sky for about 20 minutes. ! ! -LL
