Hail Storm Delays March Launch of STS-117

Well, it looks like Mother Nature is still in charge.
A very heavy and extensive hail storm on Monday pocked Atlantis's external fuel foam. It will be rolled back to the Vehicle Assembly Building where it will stay until the damage has been assessed and corrected.
The next launch window possibilities won't be until late April which should give ample time to "iron out any rumples" in Atlantis's future trip to the Space Station.

I heard on the news yesterday that the fuel tank is repairable and should not delay the shuttle launch after all.
Somehow, they are able to repair the fuel tank without having to detach it from the shuttle. ??!!
Did I understand that right?! - LL

Updates on Atlantis and Hail Damaged Fuel Tank

Well, it looks like there is still no launch date for STS-117 and discussion continues on what to do about the damaged fuel tank.
The bottom part of the tank has been repaired and the middle section seems to be o.k. as is.
My question is:
Who was paid to count the 2500 dings located at the top of the tank?
Meanwhile, the Atlantis crew, consisting of: Commander Rick Sturckow, Pilot Lee Archambault, Mission Specialists Jim Reilly, Patrick Forrester, Steven Swanson and John "Danny" Olivas will continue training at the Johnson Space Center here in Houston, awaiting a new launch date.
The launch date may be determined by April 10.
