Shuttle Commander Frederick Sturckow is ready for the next eleven day mission.
This shuttle crew is " shaken, but not stirred" over the sad and unfortunate loss of their former CAPCOM, Captain Nowak, who would have been their ground conduit, but are they are remaining focused on this upcoming mission.
The team will install a new truss section on the ISS, unfold one set of solar arrays and retract another, along with other important space work.
Listen to Houston Public Radio's report by Jack Williams.

The amazing story about Captain Nowak just highlights how tricky it would be to send people on extended space missions.
I know that people spend months on end on the ISS but at least they can return relatively quickly if anything goes wrong. If there were some kind of incident involving an astronaut half-way across the solar system you could imagine it being a terribly difficult scenario to deal with.
I'm having visions of 2001: A Space Odyssey
