Accuracy of The Big Bang Theory

I could only think of one problem with the Big Bang theory and that was that we have not been watching all of these galaxies long enough to tell for sure what is happening. For all we know the movement could be an expansion and then a contraction. All of the universe could have contracted back to the size of an atom and then repeated this process for infinity. They are measuring time by which, possibly only one of the expansions has happened-the big bang
