Comet Garradd flyby of globular cluster M71
Posted by Marc on August 30th, 2011
Brian McGaffney sent in this great image of Comet C/2009 P1 Garradd’s flyby of M71. It was taken from his own Nutwood Observatory inĀ Ontario, Canada on August 26th at 11pm (EDT). Brian used a 14 inch astrograph (a telescope specifically for use in astrophotography) and an Apogee U16M CCD camera.

Nice to view Brian McGaffney’s work featured. I’ve been to the observtory site a few times, amazing place. If you ever get to the Bancroft, ON area you MUST call to spend an evening at Nutwood. All info is on the website http://www.nutwood-observatory.com along with many more magnificent astro photos.
