Celebrate 2009, The International Year of Astronomy
Posted by Lydia on December 29th, 2008
Celebrate the International Year of Astronomy by chronicling the sun rising on January 1, 2009, the last sunset of 2008, the last moon of 2008 and the first moon of 2009. This year make it a point to attend a Star Party and an astronomy club meeting and further celebrate the International Year of Astronomy by sending us your first glimpse of your favourite observing object.
2009 commemorates the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s success as the first to observe lunar craters, the phases of Venus and Jupiter’s moons by telescope. We also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
